Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. |

The donation will purchase a neonatal monitor for RCH's
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Over the past several
years, the CKNW Orphans' Fund has generously donated
more than $170,000 for the care of seriously ill and
premature infants born at Royal Columbian.

The Royal
Columbian Hospital Foundation received $2,000 from the
New Westminster Firefighters' Charitable Society towards
the purchase of a neonatal monitor. Royal Columbian Hospital
has one of only three Level III Neonatal Intensive Care
Unit's (NICU) in B.C. Since 1990, the New Westminster
Firefighters have provided both funding and volunteer
time in support of children and babies at Royal Columbian
Hospital. |

Hospital provides complex surgical services for a population

Wally Buono, GM
and Head Coach of the BC Lions, and his wife Sande returned
to Royal Columbian Hospital one year after his triple bypass
surgery. It was a great opportunity for Wally to visit with
the patients and thank the cardiac team for their care and support.
Wally joined the patients for their exercise class and shared
experiences about his surgery and recovery. The RCH Foundation
also presented Wally with a certificate of appreciation for
lending his personal story for the Foundation's spring direct
mail campaign that raised more than $50,000 for critically needed
patient care equipment. Last year, Wally also volunteered his
time to be the spokesperson for the RCH Foundation's public
awareness media campaign. |

of a new defibrillator for the hospitals Admitted Coronary
Intensive Care Unit (ACIU).
More than 1.5 million people from
Burnaby to Boston Bar depend on the Royal Columbian Hospital
as the major referral centre for trauma and cardiac services.
The Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation has been raising money
to help the hospital save lives for more than 25 years. Through
the generous support of donors like the Burnaby Fire Fighters
the Foundation can ensure that the hospital is equipped to
meet the demand and handle the most serious injuries and illnesses. |
