The Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation received $39,341 from TB Vets Charitable Foundation for the purchase of a ventilator for the hospital's Cardiac Services Intensive Care Unit. CKNW Orphans' Fund donates $19,401 to Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation

Shirley Stocker (left), Administrator of the CKNW Orphans' Fund, recently presented Adrienne Bakker, CEO of the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation, with a gift of $19,401 for RCH's
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

   

The donation will purchase a neonatal monitor for RCH's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Over the past several years, the CKNW Orphans' Fund has generously donated more than $170,000 for the care of seriously ill and premature infants born at Royal Columbian.

New Westminster Firefighters' Charitable Society

  The Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation received $2,000 from the New Westminster Firefighters' Charitable Society towards the purchase of a neonatal monitor. Royal Columbian Hospital has one of only three Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit's (NICU) in B.C.  Since 1990, the New Westminster Firefighters have provided both funding and volunteer time in support of children and babies at Royal Columbian Hospital.

The Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation received $10,000 from the Royal Bank Charitable Foundation towards the purchase of a surgical camera. Royal Columbian Hospital provides complex surgical services for a population of 1.5 people from Burnaby to Boston Bar. The RBC Charitable Foundation has been a strong supporter of Royal Columbian since 2001.


Hip Hip Hooray! - 2006

The Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation receive $ 6,140.00 from Hip Hip Hooray! New Westminster to fund the purchase of new orthopaedic equipment for our hospital.

  The Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation received a $40,000 grant from the Tzu Chi Foundation Canada to fund the purchase of a new ventilator for the hospital's Cardiac Services Intensive Care Unit (CSICU).

  Wally Buono, GM and Head Coach of the BC Lions, and his wife Sande returned to Royal Columbian Hospital one year after his triple bypass surgery. It was a great opportunity for Wally to visit with the patients and thank the cardiac team for their care and support. Wally joined the patients for their exercise class and shared experiences about his surgery and recovery. The RCH Foundation also presented Wally with a certificate of appreciation for lending his personal story for the Foundation's spring direct mail campaign that raised more than $50,000 for critically needed patient care equipment. Last year, Wally also volunteered his time to be the spokesperson for the RCH Foundation's public awareness media campaign.

Superior Tofu

  The Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation received $2,811.69 from Superior Tofu for RCH's Renal program. Adrienne Bakker (second from right), President & CEO of RCH Foundation, accepts a cheque from Janet Yau, Marketing Manager, Superior Tofu (far left). Janet organized a third-party fundraiser to make a donation in memory of her father, Wilson K. Y. Yau, who was a dialysis patient at RCH. They are joined by RCH Renal program staff (left to right), Gae Easdown, Deb Reilly, Verna Wannop, Dr. Victor Chan and Evangeline Cabezon in the new Renal unit at RCH, scheduled to open in December 2005.

Their gift will fund the purchase of a new defibrillator for the hospital’s Admitted Coronary Intensive Care Unit (ACIU).

More than 1.5 million people from Burnaby to Boston Bar depend on the Royal Columbian Hospital as the major referral centre for trauma and cardiac services. The Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation has been raising money to help the hospital save lives for more than 25 years. Through the generous support of donors like the Burnaby Fire Fighters the Foundation can ensure that the hospital is equipped to meet the demand and handle the most serious injuries and illnesses.
