PLANNED GIVING Giving Through Your Will
Many British Columbians are choosing to name the Royal
Columbian Hospital Foundation in their wills, after first providing
for their loved ones. Such gifts (known as bequests) are vitally
important to the Foundations mission to raise money to help
the Royal Columbian Hospital save lives, restore health and provide
comfort to seriously injured and ill patients of all ages.
There are several ways you
can make a bequest to the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation.
Specific bequest, where you
leave a specific amount or percentage of your estate to the
Foundation.
Residual bequest, where the
Foundation will receive the remainder of your estate after
you have provided for your loved ones.
Contingent bequest, where
all or a portion of your estate is left to the Foundation only
in the event of the prior death of certain named individuals.
Benefits of Leaving a Bequest to the Royal Columbian
Hospital Foundation
A bequest is a commitment
beyond your lifetime to provide funding for the Royal Columbian
Hospital to save lives, improve the quality of health care.
A bequest to the Foundation
allows you to make a long-term commitment without affecting
your current standard of living.
Bequests are eligible for
tax receipts that can be used against the taxable income of
the estate in the year of death as well as the previous year.
You can direct your bequest
to a specific purpose, or you can request that your gift be
used where it is most needed.
