Peter Legge Golf Classic Raises Funds for RCH Foundation's Urgent Needs Campaign

New Westminster, August 14, 2007 — In spite of a very rainy July morning, the skies cleared and the Peter Legge Charity Golf Classic event raised $60,000 for the RCH Foundation and three other local charities. The 13th annual event, whose major sponsors included WirelessWave, Quebecor World, DDB Canada, Bell, MCL Motor Cars, Seaspan and Absolute Spa Group, was held at the Vancouver Golf Club and followed by a reception and silent auction.
RCH Foundation was pleased to be chosen as one of four charities to benefit from this popular event that draws business leaders from all walks of life. At the reception, Peter Legge, Publisher of Canada Wide Media and motivational speaker, shared how important RCH is to the region and to his entire family, who have received exceptional care over many years.
“I am so pleased to help support the great work of the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation. Growing up in New Westminster, Royal Columbian has always been my hospital and my family has received the best care from their dedicated doctors and nurses. Royal Columbian is important to the entire province of British Columbia and I am happy to provide assistance to the Foundation to help support patient care at RCH,” says Peter Legge.
Net proceeds of $60,000 were shared by RCH Foundation, Variety, The Children’s Charity, Salvation Army and Laura's Hope. RCH Foundation's share of the event’s donation will be allocated toward its $1 Million Urgent Needs Campaign for 2007. The annual campaign depends on donors to help fund much-needed equipment and patient care enhancements throughout the hospital
“Physicians and staff rely on the Foundation each year to help fund their departments’ urgent equipment needs,” says Adrienne Bakker, President and CEO of RCH Foundation. “We are grateful for donor support to help us fund life-saving equipment for patients at RCH. The Peter Legge Golf Classic event was a wonderful opportunity for us to raise funds and enjoy a great day out with RCH Foundation board members, volunteers and donors.”
