TB Vets Helps Fund Purchase of a Ventilator for the Royal Columbian Hospital
New Westminster, B.C. - TB Vets Charitable Foundation has donated $60,000 towards the purchase of two ventilators for the Royal Columbian Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
Adrienne Bakker, President & CEO of the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation, noted that this vital equipment is needed to provide highly specialized care for patients with respiratory problems. “While government provides essential funding for today’s health care costs, our donors provide additional funding so RCH can deliver the best and most advanced care possible for critically ill and injured patients in the community and across the region,” says Bakker. “Our foundation is truly grateful that there are organizations like TB Vets who are able to respond to our hospital’s needs.”
“All donations to our fundraising initiatives stay in B.C. and we are pleased to be able to give back to the community” said Ron Goyette, Executive Director of TB Vets Charitable Foundation. “There are immediate and often lifesaving results from the financial support that TB Vets receives from our donors. Since 1946, we have donated over $10 million to help British Columbians breathe easier.”
This is the third grant Royal Columbian Hospital has received from TB Vets. In 2000 the RCH Foundation received $45,000 for the purchase of a ventilator for the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In 2006 TB Vets donated $39,341 towards the purchase of a ventilator for the Cardiac Services Intensive Care Unit.
TB Vets Charitable Foundation receives no government funding. Donations to their annual Keytag Campaign and other initiatives allow TB Vets to help children and adults across B.C. in respiratory distress. Since 1946, TB Vets has provided grants in excess of $10 million to purchase vital respiratory equipment for B.C. hospitals, fund local respiratory research and education, and support the training of future Respiratory Therapists.
